GOP Gets Polling Bump After Democrat Shutdown in Congress
Republicans in Congress have seen their net approval rating increase by 5 points overall and 12 points among Republican voters since the Democrat-led government shutdown began, according to a CNN data analyst. In addition, congressional Republicans’ approval rating with independents is up 8 points following the Schumer shutdown.
Poll Finds Stefanik Leading Hochul in New York Gubernatorial Race
Newsweek reported this week that a Manhattan Institute poll found GOP Congresswoman Elise Stefanik leading Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul by one point (43 percent to 42 percent) in the race for Governor of New York. Republicans are hoping to flip the New York gubernatorial seat for the first time in decades.
Mamdani Ahead in NYC Mayor’s Race
According to a Quinnipiac University poll released this week, Democratic socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani leads the New York City mayoral race with 43 percent support among likely voters. Independent candidate and former Democratic Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, sits at 33 percent and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa has 14 percent support in the poll, with 6 percent of likely voters remaining undecided.
