BONUS POST: A Brief Comment About the Speech
After watching President Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress, I believe Americans who tuned in Tuesday probably witnessed two things that were not unexpected: a resolute President Trump with a clear vision for the return of American greatness and a historically petty response by congressional Democrats.
From the moment of the President’s entry onto the floor, where Democrats did not join the welcoming procession and did not stand along the aisle to greet his entrance, the tone of complete disrespect was set by the Democrats. Of course, their behavior naturally continued into contempt and planned chaos on the floor during the speech.
However, the depth of their disdain for Trump certainly took on new heights when they refused to stand and honor a child cancer survivor and the family of a victim murdered by a criminal illegal alien.
Apparently, the new Left believes that disagreement somehow absolves them of all decency.
Despite the embarrassing behavior of Democrats, President Trump remained focused on delivering his vision for the American comeback: a strong economy, a right-sized government, a healthier America, a secure border, and a strong place on the world stage once again.
If you turned to some media outlets last night, or any night for that matter, you might walk away with the false impression that common sense is now controversial – that if you believe in traditional values, you are not the normal one. Sadly, this wrong perspective is easy to believe because our culture has embraced offense and outrage as a currency for change.
You are told that basic facts, science, and even traditional values are offensive – and when outrage is directed their way, it grabs headlines. President Trump’s victory in November and his resolve this week in the face of massive resistance from one side of the aisle is a reminder that those headlines are rarely based in reality.
